These Fragments Tell My Story- Abstract Painting- Applying Texture
“These Fragments Tell My Story” 47x66” acrylic, cloth, oil stick, oil pastel, graphite and canvas pieces on canvas
“These Fragments Tell My Story” is an abstract contemporary painting that encompasses the years, the stories, the heart and the soul behind JSL and their work rescuing girls and women out of sex trafficking and the sex trade.. By using a variety of layers, texture, medium and marks I am working to visualize what lies spiritually and emotionally deep behind the lives impacted, inspired and shared amongst JSL’s journey. All of my work speaks through the story of ones life and the human condition, becoming intertwined between the two. My goal is that each work of art will drive the viewer to an internal conversation of memory and meaning, giving them clarity amongst the tension in their life.

Becoming Whole Again.
This is the last piece from my series "Fragments".
72x111” Acrylic, Oil Sticks/Pastel, Cloth and Graphite on Canvas
As you can see in the video the painting takes multiple turns in color, and layer. I knew what I wanted to do in my head, but the translation to canvas just wasn't working out. After a day of thought, frustration and prayer I finally figured out what needed to happen. I washed the piece in gold while adding sections of cloth on the bottom and top right corner, giving the effect of tearing away or breaking through.
Ides of March, Pt 2
In this video I am painting a 73x43" piece on canvas using acrylics, cloth, oil sticks, oil pastels and graphite pencils.
This piece was a gift to my brother and sister in law. My wife and her sister lost their mother to breast cancer in HS, and this last March, on their mothers birthday my brother in law lost his mother to cancer as well. This piece is a representation of the love and bond our family has through their mothers.

In this video I am working with cloth and canvas scraps on canvas for texture. Utilizing gesso as the glue- once dry, applying different medium to the top of it (acrylic, oil stick, oil pastel, pastel pencil and graphite).
In this video I am using different types of material to create texture for a series of abstract studies for large scale pieces.
I am using cloth and sawdust as I experiment with how each will work. In the end, I found the sawdust too difficult to work with, however it did work and built up a great segment of rough texture. I loved the cloth, and I have begun to use it in different pieces.
All of the items used in these pieces were: Gesso, Acrylics, Oil Stick, Oil Pastel, Graphite and Cloth on Canvas.

Inside the Wonder.
I am currently waiting for my new art studio to be completed. This video is currently how I feel, as I wait to have a space to paint.
Inside they appear, as if they are talking, discussing, color, shape, texture, movement, silent and submissive, in scale, I can feel them, smell them, hear the whispers, full bloom, waters running wild and downstream, searching, seeking, answers all questioning surrounding and sounds of gone by, there are chapters ending and chapters beginning, this is the way it works, this is the way it sings, this is the moment that arises out of a dead sleep to breath, to write, to think upon whats and whys, to speak about memory and what is to come, there is beauty here, there is color here, I feel it chasing after me, swift and strong, I join in the ever changing tide.

Budapest Studio: Day One: Artist Residency
A short video from my first day in the studio at my residency in Budapest. My working space is in our Director Beata’s studio basement. This space holds stories from Hungary’s history, from her families history. The house was built by her grandfather, and during German occupation the house was bombed. There were multiple families seeking refuge here in the house. They kept chickens upstairs, for eggs and food. One evening her grandfather was upstairs checking the chickens and he was spotted from the Palace moving around in the window. Orders were given to bomb any house where people were seen moving. The house was bombed. The families were able to survive by taking refuge in the basement. Where I now sit, amongst their memories of fear, joy, tears, laughter, love and chaos. As my hands reach for pencils or pastels, I think about children playing amongst these stone walls and bricks, not knowing the chaos that existed above
